Constructivist and Comic Constructivist

Russian Constructivist poster are very inspirational for my thought process. The strong images mixed with heavy typography and are what I thought about when I coming into graphic design education. I wanted to understand how to get the inspiration of getting this style. In comic books I found an escape from this world, and wanted to create these works so that I might be able to create more of these places to escape to, for myself and for the public if they have an interest. This is where children every where can find a hero or an adventure. If I can create that in a single graphic piece. It may take many pieces but I am willing to apply my passions this. David Heatley has this art down, and he has had many successful pieces. They have been on the cover of The New Yorker, and his work is recognizable all over America.

The RIGHT of our BRAIN

I find myself being right brained. I know my comprehension of art is better than my understanding the pencil pushing world. Art is how I tell the world who I am what the hell I want from it. In my opinion, the ones who lock themselves in an office and say that art is waste of time are dry grumpy and age incredibly fast. Freeing the mind is the best way to live.

Exploration # 39 (Food as Art)

The process of this explorations was some of it was accidental and some of it was planned. How does this happen to something that can easily be manipulated. Well before I could make these works of art I had create the meals, which later became my tools. Using waffle mix and correct ingredients I had created the first tool. It was a circle created by triangles, and with in those triangles were squares. So The basic shapes of art were created intentionally. The eggs that I had made I was going to scramble which would have been very shape defined. I felt an omelet was an order. So creating my circular egg piece I folded to create a crescent moon shape and then proceeded to them into quarters. One of my waffles was missing a triangle so with out thinking I filled the missing space with the the quarter egg. Thus began the creation of the food art. I put the waffles and eggs in various positions, and that is when the planed art into being. So that is how I created a planned art piece and accidental piece, all in one.

Exploration #20

These were random thoughts that I took the time to write down. Some times my mind will wonder off into oblivion and I feel like being a kid again. My imagination is probably my most valuable quality. I tend to dose off when writing.
Have you ever had that feeling of loosing interest in something, or being distracted? The person or object that you were paying attention too is kinda of fuzzy and blurry in the background, and you feel almost sleepy. Well that is what happens to me a lot when I am writing. However when I am drawing I can go for a longer period of time without losing interest. This is how came to realize that art was where I am supposed to be. YAY.

Exploration #43 (Found Paper)

This was a pretty dirty job in my opinion, where at first it didn't sound so bad.
I didn't think about how dirty some of the paper could actually be. I was hoping
to find cleaner paper, but with dirt and constantly beat down with people walking.
However when seeing some of the aged paper, it reminded me of old pirate paper,
which was used for maps. So for me instead of finding gold treasure I found what
is used to make a treasure map. In by doing so I could create my own treasure
map for someone else to use.

Exploration # 36 (Inanimate objects)

Here is a visual story I made up using the inanimate obejcts within my room. The lamp is trying to bring something alive, so that it could have someone to play with. Using its light power the lamp was able to find another object, R2-D2. Finding the story within this piece was fun, and I would like to try it some more using other objects.
