Index/Icon

An Icon is learned an index is not! This is the a very important aspect of obtaining information. Whether you obtain it from learning what it is, or something that you already know and is something that understood by the masses. If you look at a red flower, you already know that it is red, so it is already learned. However if you see this same flower and say that the Italians sure know how to grow flowers, well that is something that you must learn.

ICON
The icon is the simplest since it is a pattern that physically resembles what it `stands for'

INDEX

An `index' is defined by some sensory feature, A, (something directly visible, audible, smellable, etc) that correlates with and thus implies or `points to' B, something of interest to an animal. All animals exploit various kinds of indexical signs in dealing with the world. The more intelligent animals are good at learning and exploiting more sophisticated indices (thus a cat will use and learn many more indexical signs than a frog, a fish or an ant -- which tend to be restricted to ones acquired innately).

The Chosen 1nd1v1dual (1+1+1=3)????????

Everything must begin somewhere. But where does these
things come from? It comes from a source, deep down
somewhere there is something possibly just ONE thing
that creates everything. I may sound like I am getting
biblical, but I am only trying out a theory. take for ex-
ample an egg. You take one egg and that is one thing,
but if we break the egg it turns out that there some thing
more with the egg and that is the yoke, and from that we can
have a variety of creations, more or less using it with cooking.
Now before the egg a singular chicken has to produce many. Before
that one male chicken must be with female to produce the one we
were discussing in the first place.

As confusing as I might have made every one, I feel like I myself has
had to start somewhere. So I must have a source. The point of this
is how the 1 something so small can be so powerful!

What make these character different? What have they done to make
themselves stand out from the rest of the people on earth? Everybody
is one single person, however however each of us is different. What causes
certain individuals to become leader? or how does someone become the
the chosen one, or The One? Such as King Arthur or Neo from the Matrix.
Obviously the characters below are fictional, however they have the ability to
inspire people to do incredible things. Or even one of the most widely read
books in the world The Bible. The stories in here have some fiction but it
also has a historical significants. The reverend Martin Luther King Jr. as well
as Barack Obamo have influences from sources such as the bible. These noble
deeds can be seen as unique, and worthy of being called the chosen one.

So in my opinion it is within everyone to become something great, it is just
up to every individual to have influence from some source. Some people
unfortunately have the influences that lead down a not so noble road. These
people come from rougher areas, and are dealt an unfair hand in life. It is not
always there fault to do awful things. Is it possible though to bring them out
of this situation, to rebuild their spirit? I think it can, but again it is up to
other people to help out with this. We have to find that noble influence within
ourselves that bring us to do such acts of kindness.

Type Study:

Here is my understanding of what a type study is referred to as.
Many attempts were used to meet one goal or final logo type.

Exploration #57 (Thought Experiements)

1. Do traffic light have little people moving the colored lights back and forth?
2. How deep does the ocean really go?
3. Is there another world beneath ours?
4. What makes money so hard to make? Since it is only made out a certain material.
5. Why is money so hard to mass produce?
6. What do the waves of a television remote look like?
7. What causes people to act good or evil?
8. What is it like to be on the other end of a bullet?
9. How fast do our eyes move really?
10. Were we better off living in caves as cavemen?

Exploration #24

These are just random images that I found to complete this exploration. They are different but yet they some how have a connection. When you look at this maybe even you can find a connection that is different from me.

the images include:
Plant & Circuit Board,
Checker Board & Apples,
Smooth Water & Old Wrinkles,
Rotten Fruit & Fresh Meat,
Wooden Spoon & Machine Gun,
The Connection
Best emotional connection I could come up
with was using an image representing life, and
the other representing death. Both images I
 believe are self explanatory.

The Spine of my Work!

From what I got from the spine article was the spine is a tool that can be used to make work go by a lot smoother, and more efficient. It acts as a base for what your work will become. It acts as a safety net so you know where you are in the process. Sometimes we will need to stray from a project to get involved in another project, and that is another reason for the spine, it allows for you to keep track of all of the progress you have made for the assignment you are working on.
For me personally their have been a few assignments that I have used some sort of spine technique. For example the fall semester had us do a number of pieces that involved a lot of process work. The campaign assignments, had a number of process them, and they were filled with notes that helped me stay on track. There were many times where I found that a certain style came through, during the process of the campaign designs that I had created. They always started off as being complex and very busy. Then I would always chips away at my work to, an the more I could simplify the better the piece got. I would do this until I got the attention of me instructor who kept encouraging me to keep going.
The are many ways a spine can be put into action, but it always depends on the style of the individual. The more it is practiced the more refined there spine technique will become. There are times when you may get away with getting a piece done without the spine, and it might turn out great. It is just a way to be more organized a determined with the projects that are being worked on.
